IT professional and programmer
Drop me a line at:
I've had a personal website for awhile, but it was pretty barren and half-finished. I made it during a job search a few years ago. The old site was simply a HTML 5UP! template (Strata, to be exact) with the content replaced and a few links slapped haphazardly. This was before I had done any courses on Boot.dev, before I understood how web servers really work, and before I had ever written a line of Go code.
I'm proud of the first iteration of the new site! It's a compiled Go program that takes Markdown files and a few Jinja templates and serves a simple static site - neat! It's even got an rss feed constructed from a Jinja template, if you're interested. You can check out the repo here.
I'm planning to use this site as a hub to host my writing on various topics, as well as past and future projects (mostly games). I currently host most of my games on itch.io, and that's still probably the best way to access them, but I like the idea of diversifying where things live.
There's a few reasons I'm building this site, and why I'm building it now. bjab.net is part of a continued effort to work with the garage door open. I also think in a time when digital spaces are less controlled by the people that use them everyday, it's important to have a digital garden.
Plus, it's just plain fun!
Stay tuned as I continue to add writing and projects to this site - if I ever do, and if anyone but the bots are even watching.
